layarAnother announcement from all-conquering Layar HQ this week, this time an app for a music festival

Dance event Mysteryland will add a whole new dimension to their world famous experience on the 28th of August. Using the Layar augmented reality browser, visitors will be able to explore the huge terrain through the camera of their Android- or iPhone and find out which of the 150 dj’s is performing on the 16 stages and what is the fastest way to get there. When zooming in on a stage the viewer will be able to learn more about the dj that is on stage, what he is playing and directly download the music to his phone via Dance Tunes.

Next to discovering who is on stage and learning all about them using augmented reality, visitors will be able to share their experience on social media platforms and see what people are twittering on Mysteryland using a special tailor made edition of ‘Tweeps Around’. Visitors will also be able to discover the numerous other venues like: creative shops, food courts, bars, coin registers, sanitary facilities and off course the exits.

Denis Doeland, responsible for IP and Internet at ID&T: “We came in contact with TAB Worldmedia through Claire Boonstra from Layar. TAB Worldmedia loved to set up a crowdsourced demo for us during the Mysteryland event. We are delighted with their way of working and approach of this experiment. Actually we can’t wait for the results, we believe augmented reality will play a significant role in our events in the near future. The results of this experiment will help us to choose the right direction in this new augmented reality era.”

Remco Vroom, Chief Commercial Officer at TAB Worldmedia, “ID&T is the first international organisation of dance events that will use high quality augmented reality on such a professional level. We have built a special rich augmented reality event platform that actually adds a new experience level to their events, it even enables commercial downloads of music and more.”
