In the lead up to the Mobile Retail Masterclass event in London on 15th March 2011, I have been asking those retailers who are attending, what role they see mobile playing in their current business strategies.

The first in a series of retail quotes is Mothercare’s head of website, Simon Spencelayh.

As with almost every other sector, the amount of mobile traffic to websites has been growing and Mothercare is no different. “10% of our traffic now comes from mobile, and is playing a more important role in how our customers research and buy products online,” accorinding to Spencelayh. He adds, “We want to optimise for mobile customers so that they have a great multi channel experience, whether they are in a Mothercare store or browsing via mobile at home.”

The multi channel approach is clear for retailers and one that I have been championing for many years. When we are shopping, we could be on the bus, lounging on our sofas or comparing prices while we are actually in the physical stores. Retailers need to be acutely aware that their customers will increasingly use mobile throughout the buying experience and ensure that whenever someone engages with their brand on mobile, that the user experience is top notch.

The agenda for the Mobile Retail Masterclass on 15th March will cover mobile topics including Mobile CRM, Mobile Apps, Mobile Websites and more.

Tomorrow’s quote is from Wiggle.co.uk

Upcoming Masterclass events include Publishing, Hospitality, Travel, Automotive and Banking/Finance. For more details on sponsoring one of the Mobile Masterclass events please contact John Owen.
