About
Overview
The travel and tourism industry has been an innovator in the use of mobile services ever since the International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced a global standard in 2007 that paved the way for global mobile phone check-in using two-dimensional (2D) bar codes. Lufthansa were the first to offer this in 2008 and now mobile check-ins are forecast to account for 1 in 7 within the next two years.
It's not just the airline industry that is embracing mobile. Mobile websites and apps for booking rail travel and car hire are flourishing, hotel booking sites such as Cross Hotel enable super quick hotel booking on the go and the traditional guide book has been mobile for some time now - most notably during the volcanic erruption in Iceland when Lonely Planet gave away free copies of their iPhone app guides.
With this in mind, the Mobile Travel & Tourism Masterclass will show companies working within the sector how to mobilise their services and maximise revenues from mobile users in the UK.
