If I ever get round to interviewing myself for the MOBILE10 series the first name on my Mobile Rockstars list will be this chap, Marc Schmoeger. An absolute legend and he knows the mobile and travel industries inside out. I always use his Cross Hotel app to book my hotels.
What’s your app of the moment?
I consistently having an eye on upcoming Travel Apps. Flighttrack for Flight tracking [by @mobiata], Aupeo to listen to my favourite music and Cross Hotel, our own App, are my current favourites.
What is your primary phone?
I am using an Android right now. The Samsung Galaxy S. Next phone will be the iPhone 4S, which will be delivered soon.
Which mobile startups have you got your eye on?
I am a huge fan of simplicity in mobile. New startups like Amen, Aupeo or myTaxi show that if you create a simple usecase for mobile, usage will follow.
What are you currently working on?
We are currently working on the first version for Cross Hotel. We are planning to launch on iOS next, followed by new versions for Android, Symbian and Windows Phone within the next 4 months. So a lot to do right now.
What will be the biggest opportunity in 2012?
As a startup I would focus on simplified transactions for mobile. In every aspect of m-commerce. If you are able to create a new way how mobile users discover and use mobile, you are on the right track.
Who are your 3 rockstars in mobile?
Harald Neidhardt, one of the most passionate people I have ever met. He started MLOVE, a movement to bring together people from the mobile economy and other industries to talk and act about the future of mobile.
Jonathan MacDonald. I think Jonathan always helped and inspired me through my career. He is living passion.
Redg Snodgrass. One of the most intelligent and crazy people from the Valley. He currently leads several initiatives, for Alcatel Lucent, in the Mobile Space.
These are my 2011 Rockstars!Who were you working for 10 years ago?
About 10years ago I started to work for Nokia. Learning everything important about Mobile Technology and Marketing. You could already feel at this time, that mobile is more than just talking on the go.
Who was/is your best boss?
I never had a best boss, but I tried to learn the most out of every boss I had in the past.
