“Brands who are neglecting to develop a solid mobile strategy are going to lose big.
”

What’s your app of the moment?

I’m constantly discovering new apps, so it’s impossible for me to name just one. We’ve just launched Apps for Girls and Apps for Boys so those two are keeping me super busy. But when it’s down time, I’ve become addicted to Amazing Breaker on iPhone.

What is your primary phone?

I’m mostly carrying the iPhone 4 which is probably the best mobile device on the planet. But a good runner up has to me by Samsung Galaxy S2. I’m not fully sold on the iPhone 4S yet. Maybe when I get a little more hands on time with it, I’ll see what I’m missing, but right now, between my iPhone, Android and iPad 2. I’m good to go.

Which mobile startups have you got your eye on?

I’m a huge believer in engagement. It’s one thing to develop a hot app, it’s a whole other ball-game to keep users coming back. One of the companies developing serious engagement tools is Appoxee. Developers would have to be silly not to use it.
Dropico Mobile (clients) are working on a series of upcoming apps in the iPhotography niche. Being personally involved in the strategy of these apps, expect to see amazing apps being released very soon.
What are you currently working on?

We’re super focused on building the right relationships for AppsMarketing.mobi. Surprisingly, working with development teams is the easy part, it’s building and managing relationships with distribution channels that takes time and dedication.
That being said, we’re always increasing our reach by developing our own apps, which is why we’re in the process of launching TheAppNetwork.co that will host a series of apps such as Apps for Girls, Apps for Boys and the upcoming Apps for Execs. You’re getting a real scoop here!
The shortest distance between apps and end-users is on the device, and that’s where we want to be. Needless to say, It’s a very exciting time!
What will be the biggest opportunity in 2012?

Obviously we’re already experiencing it, mobile apps are where it’s at right now and will continue to be the driving force through 2012. The opportunity specifically for retail brands to step up their mobile offering is mind boggling.
Consumers are increasingly living a more mobile lifestyle and are making a lot of purchasing decisions on the go. Brand who are neglecting to develop a solid mobile strategy are going to lose big.
The increasing trend of wider choices at micro-payment levels is also delivers huge opportunities for developers who can package the right content and market it quickly.
Who are your 3 rockstars in mobile?

You’ve interviewed a few inspiring folks, some of which I would have to include in this list, so let me try to shed the spotlight on other mobile industry professionals I have huge respect for.
Rob Woodbridge – For being immensely knowledgeable in all things mobile and his awesome work over on Untether.tv
Jack Dorsey – Come on. Square. Need I say more?
This is my last name drop so I better make it count. Kevin C. Tofel. The man’s an excellent and passionate writer. That shines through in his work.
Who were you working for 10 years ago?

This February marks the 10 year anniversary of my wife and I packing our bags from Montreal and settling in Israel. It’s a milestone I always look back on. Prior to that, I was working for a website development company in the not so safe for work industry. The cool thing was that it opened my eyes to the opportunities of web marketing, which has not turned into mobile app marketing.

Who was/is your best boss?

Best boss ever: Adi Wasserman. You don’t know him. But trust me. Great dude.Worst boss ever: Me, seriously, I can drive myself insane at times. I’m more demanding of myself than any other boss I’ve ever had. I actually realized that after launching my own business.

Who else should we interview?

Rene Ritchie, the Managing Editor over at TipB.com. He’s running a very professional iPhone blog and video cast. He’s someone I learn a great deal from.
